Toyota Camry is the exquisite luxury sedan that packs both performance and comfort at the same time.

The mighty Fortuner and the favourite MPV, Innova Crysta surely make one of the popular choices in the Indian markets but even these two have shown a significant decline in sales in the last one year. However, it is the Toyota Camry sales which have improved by jumping up to 73%.

The luxury hybrid sedan managed to sell a total of 45 units this May’19 compared to just 26 units last year. The premium sedan was launched in January this year and is the eight generation face from the Japanese carmaker.

The new Camry is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture(TNGA) modular platform which uses high tensile steel. Toyota calls the Camry as a Hybrid Electric. Powering the car is an all-new 2.5-litre petrol engine which makes about 178 bhp with a peak torque of 221 Nm. It is mated to a CVT gearbox and comes with paddle shifters.

One of the other reasons for the Toyota Camry Sales could have been the list of features the car has to offer apart from fewer emissions. It gets LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lamps and LED taillights.

On the inside it gets three-zone climate control, 10-way driver adjustable driver seat and co-passenger seats along with lumbar support. The beige leather upholstery combines with metallic accents and onyx garnish across the cabin.

The car also gets a multi-function steering wheel, electronic parking brake, cruise control, smart entry system with start/stop button, rear power sunshade and among others. Toyota Camry comes at a price tag of Rs 37.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and gives direct competition to the Honda Accord.

However, the overall sales of Toyota Motor suffered a decline of seven percent for the month of May’19 compared to the same month of last year.

The decline in sales can be observed due to the election results which took place. Apart from customers who have been cautiously spending over automobiles, added factors like high-insurance cost, liquidity tightening and rise of fuel cost have also weakened Toyota’s sales.

Toyota currently sells Liva + Cross, Etios, Innova Crysta, Yaris, Fortuner, Corolla, Camry, Prius, Prado and Landcruiser in India. Also, the new premium hatchback from Toyota is the Glanza which has been launched recently by the company.
